Let me tell you of William Wallace, the King's Enemy. He was a huge man, taller than the Longshanks who stood 6foot 4inches in his bare feet (verified by archaeologists as they have his bones!). The Wallace sword is displayed in the National Wallace Monument, a tower perched on the Abbey Craig just northeast of Stirling. A huge claymore, but not the biggest sword I have seen. It was at Stirling Bridge that Wallace and Andrew De Moray led the Scots to a devastating victory over the English. I was there in 1997 for the 700th anniversary of the battle as some of my relatives were there for the original fight. Very fond of that area. Bannockburn is south of Stirling; other relatives were at that one. It's peculiar how many fights have featured relatives of mine..occasionally on both sides..ahem.
I like the mini, even if it does bear more than a passing resemblance to Mad Max...or is it Mad Mac's? hehe!
Scots wae hae!

I'm not happy yet - I dont like the head - I've removed it now - and I'm sculpting a new one - and the left hand is retarded so that's got to go too.
I plan to visit Stirling at some point this year. I've really struggled to find any reference material relating to the period - the only osprey book on the matter shows Wallace in full plate mail - which I'm sure he didn't wear in his years as an outlaw - so really tough to find any good references to work from.
dorthonion - my family are from Dundee - lowlanders I'm afraid, but how do you fancy playing out some cool battles like Falkirk and Stirling?
I think it would be very cool. I'm working on some rules similar in style to LOTR but my own version - based on leadership - ie. only a hero or leader can call your ranks to advance etc and with specials 'cards' held in reserve that are played during the game like English bribing a Scots noble to leave the field and the Scots producing the long pikes or turning the Irish to their side - that kind of thing.

Amazing, the new face looks stunning... The back legs would look better with muscle definition me thinks, but what do i know. I hope this is will be produced, if so is it a one off miniature, or do you plan on creating a series? *Prays*. I hope to buy this guy if you do.
Matt.

A series would be nice wouldn't it. Could start with enough minis needed for a small assault on a garrison say.

A series would be... Nice... This is much more up my street, as much of a LOTR fan i am, historical wars, with detailed good scale figures makes for a more interesting gaming experience. As im an optimist, the thought of the opposing English popped into my head...? Matt

I agree - most historical minis are so flat - cloned and boring. And DBA frankly sucks the root!

im not too keen on that new head, though i love the mini otherwise. I am very interested in your rule-set, it sounds very realistic. make sure to let us know of any updates!

Wallace references: William Wallace - The King's Enemy by D.J.Gray ISBN 0-7090-4329-5 William Wallace, Brave Heart by James Mackay ISBN 1-85158-823-X There are further references within these and if you are up in Scotland, try a couple of the better bookshops in Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh etc (near universities) as the history sections are pretty good.
