I have started my main army, easterlings. This will include the GW easterlings (Rhun), the GW Khand (including a few mecenaries), and of course, Ebobs "tribes of the east". They are all united by the cunning words of my created hero: the "Mouth of Khamul".
Warriors:To start off, i have ordered 10 foot TotE warriors, and 6 mounted warriors. I plan to order a box of easterlings and a box of kataphracts from GW soon. This, joined with my easterling command, 3 spearmen and 2 swordsmen will give me enough for most battles. When Khand is released, i plan to get the king on chariot, plus 2 regular chariots (one of each pose) as well as a heap of normal troops (foot and mounted).
Heros:Soon i will convert "the mouth", though dont have many ideas yet. i may have to sculpt the majority of him. I am mid-way through converting a Khamul on fellbeast, which will lead my army on some occasions.
More to come soon.

Awesome!
When you get the TotE, can you get a side-by-side pic of one next to an plastic Easterling? I would like to see the detail difference - I reckon the detail is pretty shoddy on the Easterlings...

UPDATE: miniatures arrived! one box of easterlings, one box of Kata's , 6 tribes horsemen and 10 tribes warriors. detail on the tribes is fantastic, i was surprised at the short length of the sword (especialy compared to the plastic easterlings) though i now see they are realisticaly lengthed. It was a little hard to straighten the spears, but in the end it was worth it

ok, i have made the fateful decision to paint my easterlings in NMM, the reasoning is i just couldnt get them looking even partially good using metalics. I painted up one kataphract, which took all day, which i am very pleased with. pics coming soon.

it is realy fun to use, in my opinion. What you do is use non metalic colours (eg grey for silver and yellow for gold) , mix and blend and finally paint some of the highest reflections with a very light colour (i mostly use white when painting gold, with a little yellow mixed in) there are many guides on the net, peregrin took's easterling article is probably the best example: www.thepalantir.org/ca/miniature/ptk001/ptk001.htmonce i can get a good photo, i will post it up!

my minis are nowhere as good as PT's though, remember that here is a nearly finished kataphract, all i need to do is paint the straps, sword, tail and other small details.
