Hello. Thought I'd say hi and introduce myself with pics of the first sculpt I've done with an ebob dolly as base: The sword is separate, like this: This is a sort of sketch and I think those dollies are great for making quick sketchsculpts.

Hey Bohdi! welcome - and that's looking mighty fine - that'll cast one-piece - looks like you're thinking multi-part, why? I hate to tell you this - but the base is upside down - you'll have to start again, sorry mate.

The problem with the base really aint that small. I made a bunch of figures with the basetag done through "pressmolding" on a plastic base. After casting they had to be filed down because they were to fat to fit in a plastic base. Not going to cast this one but it's a first sketch for quite a few samurai that ARE to be cast So this would cast as one piece? I'm thinking extremely twodimensional when it comes to casting - better safe than sorry I figure. Guess I'll have to visit a caster in action to figure out how threedimensional spincastings can get.

He's in a very similar position to one of my Mongols. You can even leave a gap between his body and his arms if you wish. My horses are cast one piece despite not being at all 'flat'. Just use a good caster - use Griffin moulds - let them worry about the technicalities rather than double guessing yourself or designing things flat. Obviously you can use your initiative but you'll be surprised what you can get away with if you use a caster that knows what he's doing.

I haven't got a choice for casting those samurai. They're a commision. I think the caster knows very well what he's doing though
