I'm going to do a couple of casualty sculpts. My question is should I use any armeture at all for them? They will be lying face down so theres not much in the way for skeletal structure.

if you arent good at getting proportions correct or have trouble with shape or making your own paperclip armatures, then use an old one that you broke if you have one or use a new one if necessary, it will improve the final piece

If you can sculpt in proportion without them, then don't bother as, like yo said, they will be on the ground. owever, you could always play it safe and use one anyway, just to be sure...
