Hay ebob, I sent you an e-mail, but you sometimes don't get them, (I've tryed before), I know yuor busy so I don't blame you. I'll post it here as well:
ebob- I was wondering, did you sculpt your models bases, and did you have to sculpt the thing on their feet to go into the base slot to send it for casting. Also, are you going to publish an actual book for the Rebellion rules? A friend of mine bought them and I love your sculpts. Particularly some of the Scots. When do you exspect the cavalry and archers to be out? Are you going to invest in plastic models ever? I love sculpting and want to cast and start my own range based on a series of books called the Temeraire series, but it will be difficult, as there are numerous dragons and I want to do it on a 25 mm scale like the rebellion or lotr sbg, which I play, I also love your sculpting articles, that's how I learned. your number 1 fan, aspiring sculptor dude

Q1: did you sculpt your models bases A: No - the bases are plastic - I buy them in.
Q2: did you have to sculpt the thing on their feet to go into the base slot to send it for casting A: Yes, I have pre-cast base tabs now, cause I stuck one in mould.
Q3: Are you going to publish an actual book for the Rebellion rules A: I really want to, but it might mean an investment of over £1000 - which is a big gamble.
Q4: When do you exspect the cavalry and archers to be out? A: Pre-release models by end of March, full blister sets will more poses after April.
Q5: Are you going to invest in plastic models ever? A: Never!
Q6: cast and start my own range based on a series of books called the Temeraire series A: You must be aware of copyright here. It's ok if the book has a dragon and you do a dragon - but if you start copying any artwork from anywhere or using the names (like Gandalf) from the story then you will run into problems. I would not recommend you start making dragons - because loads of manufacturers do dragons and you will find them extremely expensive to repropuduce and sell very few.

I think you mis understood, the dragons will be for a game based on these books www.temeraire.org/index.cgi which is based on dragons. I was thinking of sculpting some characters and taking pics then sending them to the author. It won't be entirely dragons, because there are some land battles too. I was thinking of purchasing some milliput from you, as I need swords and bayonets (takes place in the Napoleanic era), and I only have Greenstuff. My previous personal stuff I clipped swords from other models, and I can't do that if I want to sell them. I wouldn't even sttempt to sculpt a dragon until August, if alll goes according to plan. Did you have to get copyrights from the Rebellion?

sorry if im butting in here, but Ebob didn't need any rights for the Rebellion range as it is based upon historical fact and no one can own rights to this - hence freedom to do what he likes. but if he were to take names and designs from say a well knowen film then rights would be need but this is not the cause for these miniatures.

You're always going to hit that problem with dragons though - they are big - hard and expensive to cast - the result is an expensive model that cost lots to make and low sales. It's a bad combo - and GW are about to release a series of dragons, not to mention all the gazillions of dragons already available.
What will make your range of dragons better than the others - that is the question you must address.

They are sort of LoTR mumaky because models go ontop of them, and the dragons fight. THe have gunsmen, rigleme, and bording parties jump from other dragons in midair to engage in sword combat. What are the general prices to cast a 25 mm model like in the rebellion? how much is a copy after that?

if you were going to do a mass combat game with dragons it may be easyer to do it smaller scale say 15mm or even 6mm as then it is easyer and cheaper to play games.
