The thunder of hooves, the jingle of harness ... utterly superb! Please can we have a standard bearer?

Awesome model, but how can we give him bow and shield in LOTR? In Middle-earth, Eastern riders are not renowned for their horsemanship and certainly not the equals of Rohan to warrent giving them the Expert Rider rule.
I don't suppose there is any chance of shield and/or quiver being seperate?

Well.. my Tribes are based on Medival Mongols under Genghis Kahn. They were both expert bowmen and expert riders (they were nomadic). It's likely that these are the horseman that the Rohirrim are based on. They were almost always mounted when in combat, and all were equipped with a bow as it was their favoured weapon. For LOTR gaming, the miniatures are no different that respect to the Rohirrim models which are similarly all equipped with bow and shield. Similarly then for gaming purposes only those aiming the bow my be considered archers and perhaps only those actually holding the shield could be considered shield equipped. I thought the expert rider rule only concerned jumping things etc ? as most battles are fought on fairly flat game tables - this is no great shakes either way in my view. These models are intended to appeal to a wider audience including those that game ancient battles (chinese vs mongols etc) - so I must keep the models looking close to the historical references. Rules for adapting them to LOTR have been published on The Last Alliance website. www.thelastalliance.com/It would be possible to make all the quivers and shields separate - but it's not desirable from my point of view - as the blister will already contain many separates - spears, upper torso, bows - it'll end up being a box of bits and taking me a lot longer to pack the blisters - which is an important consideration - a mistake I made with the Opel truck, and not one I want to repeat.

No, you can't - because Genghis Kahn didn't have a standard - but what you can have is a camel drummer - same thing.

That looks great! One question though, is that horse some sort of white resin or plaster or neither?

Expert Rider also allows the ROR to get the +1D shield bonus while armed with a bow. Agreed though, they would have expert rider rule for historical battles and that would solve the problem. Maybe allow them to switch weapons each turn, so if they shoot then they only have D4 but have D5 in combat or when not shooting - yeah that could work.
