ebob are you also going to make some kind of druids for in the highlander army?? Sorry to be Mr. Pedant but even if these Highlanders were not wrong for the period Druids definitely would be. By the time of the Wars of Independence Scotland had been a Christian country for centuries. The early form of Christianity in Scotland, Celtic Christianity, had give way to Catholicism. Robert I had the support of Catholic Bishops throughout the War

Forget druids (now I have Getafix in my head) - clan chiefs, De Moray & Scottish nobility (mounted), camp followers, and so on! Please!

How come the tossers still hang around stone henge like a bunch of scrounging pikies then? I'm no friend of sheet wearing saddos though when I did go to Stone heange with my long hair and beard the police did look at me funny. Those folks are a mix of late Victorian descended inadequates and more modern ones. The material is crap, the stitching bad machine stitching. For crying out loud if you are going to be an idiot in a robe at least do a decent jbo of making the thing. And as for that King Arthur character, don't get me started. Gibber

Isn't about the ONLY information we have on druids a bunch of lies by Julius Caesar? So that would make research when sculpting them pretty hard even if they WERE the right timeperiod. Judging by what very scant information we have on the priest of other tribal societies of the same timeperiod it would seem that the white robes and stuff is highly unlikely though. So I think we'd better leave druids purely to fantasy and not even attempt it when we're sculpting historicals.

white robes and stuff is highly unlikely though. Yes--pagan Celtic druids certainly didn't wear those too often, from what I've read they were mostly naked and wild, nothing like the fantasy image of druids you often find. I imagine this rises from romantisized arthurian stories where pagen religions and hence druids were quite common.
