This is the GW Gandalf - and a Plastic Balrog from the local Toy Shop. There are now several Balrogs - many of them superior to the puny GW one. This one cost just £25 and stands around 9 inches tall. Of course I had to repaint him.

Thats a very very nice Balrog, very detailed too! I agree, the GW Balrog is just too small, for a moment there, i thought you were going to cast us a Balrog!

There's no need - I think this one is great - the GW one is tiny and is in a really 'gay' pose. This fella is half the price, twice the size and 10 times better sculpted. He's a bit brightly coloured out of the box - but painted he's absolutely awesome.

Yeah, i completely agree, your right, and your painting shows! Mainly drybrushing methinks, theres no way you'd idividualy highlight that beast

Aye, it's bigger then the old one, but Ebob's right, the one he has is waay larger then that. I'm trying to cut back on spending money on GW, hobby-wise, my cash will go elsewhere. I recommened others do so too...

What makes you say it's bigger? it's on the same size base as the old one.

I think the wing-span is larger, but that's because one of the GW Balrogs will be Plastic. If that one was metal, imagine balancing it!

well I got it from the local toy shop - but the manufacturer is.. www.sabertoothgames.comThey do a range of larger rubbery LOTR figures. I dont rate the other miniatures at all - but the Balrog and Treebeard are great. I look forward to their Fell beast.

Doesn't Sabertooth Games have something to do with GW?? Or maybe its Magic - The gathering... either way, i've heard it within GW context before.

well they do a collectible card game based on 40k, so yes they are related to GW. that sabretooth treebeard looks horrible, but the sauron is cool.
