Casting in plastic is very expensive. The mould is made out of some form of metal (correct me if i'm wrong, Ebob), and it doesn't 'flex' like silicone moulds do. So that is why different detail bits are not as good on plastic. But Plastic moulds are getting better very quickly, you'll see in recent GW Plastic Kits. If Ebob was going to cast in plastic, he'd need guarenteed sales. And he'd need alot more then he did for the metal TotE. As a general rule; Plastic models should only be made if you can pay off the mould and equipment.

If he made plastic tribes, I'd get them, for sure!

Well Alatar, as we all know, plastic is expensive. Besides, Ebob's TotE are cheap and in high-detail metal! ;D

Wow! I thought that metal would be dearer than plastic. How wrong was I! Though it would be great if Ebob made plastic models they probally would be cheaper and I am not Exactly rolling in money so plastic models would be great, but if he can't then he can't.

Plastic ends up being cheaper - in the long run. But the basic cost of getting a rigid mould and making it detail, etc. is extremmely expensive (and you get less detail), sure the cost of casting is cheaper, but you minimum selling requirments are much higher. Whereas Metal is more expensive in the long run... but better detail, and more likely to break even or make a profit. Unless I am wrong, feel free to correct me Ebob!

You all know how much GW delay and ring their hands when it comes to producing anything in plastic - because it's a massive investment we are talking about millions here. And - you all know what is currently happening to GW - they are losing profit hand over fist - shops are closing and those that remain are opening for half a day now - they are wishing they never started the LOTR range.
Plastic is not cheaper - plastic is poorer detail - plastic is more easily broken - I don't like plastic - I wont do plastic - dont ask me about plastic.

Interesting, plastic may be dearer, but you could produce more casts per hour, correct? Ohh well, good to hear some inside knoweldge!

Plastic is only cheaper when you produce millions - but for me the quality is so reduced I wouldnt consider it in any case.
Compare a plastic warg and rider to a metal one - and the reduction in details is obvious even to David Blunkett. It's only the public that demand plastic because they can't afford £5 a horse for an entire army and percieve plastic as a more cost effective alternative - but there's absolutely no reason for a metal horse to cost that much - and I'll prove it.

Many thanks for clearing this up for us Ebob, and taking the time. Well, I hope you do prove it! Is this a form of indication of how much your TotE horsemen are going to cost?

I certainly won't be expecting folk to pay £5 a horse when trying to put together an army!
