UndercoatingThe first thing to do is to undercoat your miniatures matt black. Undercoating is best done by spray painting. I prefer to use a large size can of matt black car spray - I use Halfords spray paint in the UK. Always get the biggest can - it has better pressure than the smaller cans. Painting - using GW's acryllic rangeFirst I cover the miniature with Scorched Brown - then dry brush with earth brown. Next the face is coloured elf flesh and the chainmail and weapon parts/helmet are painted boltgun metal. Under the chainmail is worn a padded jacket. This should be painted desert yellow. Next we start to bring up the colour of the tabbard - starting with Red Gore. Next the red is brightened again using Blood Red. Finally the red is highlighted with an orange mix of Blood Red and Sunburst Yellow - and again with some white added. Finally, the chainmail - indeed most of the figure is washed with a very watered down coat of Scorched Brown. This takes the edge of the metal colour on the chainmail and makes it more weathered looking. The bottom edge of the tabbard is weathered with Kommando Kahki.

How do you do the faces? I'm having a hard time with these flat faces. Bohun, as example, as a more 3d face and i did it with way more ease.

Just flesh colour with a brown wash and then highlight with light flesh again on cheeks and nose.
