How large are the boats? I'm going to make a mini diorama with Sam and Frodo at Amon Hen, and my question is: Does a hobbit (Frodo) fit in the boat along with some package in the front?

The boats are perfect for this - they're just short of 3" in length.

How will you make the hobbits? If you wish to have a try at sculpting I have a small no. of hobbit armatures (they are marked as out of stock - but I have 5).

No, I will not try to sculpt the hobbits, I will use Sam and Frodo from the Breaking of the Fellowship box. I'm going to sculpt new legs and a piece of the cloak on Frodo so he can sit in the boat, and since Frodo from BotF turns his head a little bit, I will try to make it look like when Frodo look back and shout to Sam "You can't swim!". I will use the BotF-Sam, but I think I will cut away his arms and replace them with wire, and sculpt new arms, so it looks like when he's about to start wading out into the water.
