Bishop Bek (using the dismounted Wallace figure) and his Banner bearer (using one of the English Knight figures). Unfortunately I shouldn't have taken the piccie outside in the really bright sunshine as it's washed the detail out a bit. Attachments:

Next up will be another mounted knight(haven't decide who yet) and a couple of archers. Then I want to get the Bohun figures to do as John de Warrenne and give him a banner bearer(from another of the English Knight figures). And by then hopefully the English Foot will be available again and I can start giving them their retinues( I paint really slowly Bob so there's plenty of time yet) :-)

nice paintjob, keep it up! Although they are bit too colourfull/flashy for my taste, their heraldry is very effective, exspecially Bardolfs. Perhaps you should give the flag some more bends/wrinkles, it looks a little bit stiff.

Hi Yayap, thanks for the feedback. what do you mean by "too flashy/colourful"? Too bright/too many colours? I resisted the temptation to do them all with halved/quartered surcoats , badges etc. Do you mean you prefer them a bit more muted, worn, dirty , that sort of thing? i was tempted to do that but in the end couldn't bring my self to dirty them up. I can pretend they are at tournament or just starting on a campaign :-) The heraldry is copied from the Falkirk Roll. Agree on the flag. :-( It's made from paper and I tried to mould it into a more wavy shape whilst the glue was wet but it just kept straightening out. I might use a thinner/softer paper next time around.

Actually I meant that the colours are very shiny and bright. As the cloth was dyed using organics only it was bleached and worn out fairly easy and not that bright to begin with. I therefor try to always ad some brown or beige shades to the mix, making it a little bit more "earthy". It's kinda hard for me to explain it in English, just take a look at some medieval or renaissance paintings. Anyways, they are your figs, so paint them your way

thanks Yayap , explained perfectly. I imagine I'll keep nice clean clothes for my Earls and Knights , maybe the common soldiers will be a bit more "faded". Dave.
